A Sip of the Holy Grail

My photo
"...& then the clouds parted and riding down a stray beam of light in the land of pure darkness twas the one & only, who is braver than a hundred lions, wiser than a thousand goats, a mac in a million times a million...EMAC The Great." That was mentioned by some guy from a crowd when I was born...in my dreams. See...now you've come to understand just why I'm already cooler than you. In any case, I bring upon you the RAGE! & Reign of Great Music, Great Women, Great Art & Great Laughs. May you suffer the inevitable in peace.

Music Spotlight : Lupe Fiasco

Im a big fan of this dude. I wasnt right away doe. Kick push was wack to me when he first went commercial so it was quite a while he had been out till I heard his track called "He say She say" on a community empowering radio show (street soldiers) on a sunday night. I almost felt like crying. Real shit. I didnt know who or what the song was called but I did my research and sure enough, I found him and immediately got the rest of his work accordingly. So when "the cool" dropped I was already a fan. His latest album "Lasers" I feel was pushed more so by the fans and not Lupe's drive for the love of music. There was speculation that the fame he was gaining was getting to him or some usual artist shit, and his last album was near or could have already been made. So typical. Im a little late to listen to this cd but Im a fan. here we go.

Lupe drops his lyrical bomb threats and then explodes (no homo) over some uptempo beats. I guess it should be no coincidence since the album's namesake is "lasers". Techno beats and shit. The album art is dope too. No lie. He has some features with a few no names, his usual crew of artists, and a sprinkle of widely known artists. I think that's a great formula everybody should consider. Although the songs pretty much mesh into a blob, each track stands on its own. My faves would have to be "Words I never said", "Never forget you" , and " Beautiful Lasers". I wish 'Beamin remix" made the cut but yeah. Also this album doesnt begin like the previous two with a poem like track that is thought provoking.

All in all...it gets 4 licks outta 5. I can play it straight through but eh...it leaves me hungry. Go cop it if you havent yet.
